"Swan". The protagonist, Oh Wan-soo (Kim Ha Neul), who was born into a poor family but became a world-class golfer, is married to the wife of the vice-chairman of Korea's leading conglomerate, Fine Group, and is now
He becomes the chairman of the foundation, but one day he is caught up in a gunfight and is saved by a former police officer, Seo Do-yoon (Rain/Jun Ji-Hoo), who helps him solve the mystery of the Korean upper class.
This is the most scandalous suspense drama of the summer, PENG SOO, which exposes the secrets and desires of the top 1% of the wealthy families.
Six people attended the online press conference: Mu Ha-neul, Rain, Seo Yi-Sook, Jung Gyu-Woon, Ki Eun-Se, and director Park HONG-KI-Yun.
Q. Why did you decide to appear in this production?
Kim Ha Neul: I'm Kim Ha Neul, who played the iconic character Oh Wansoo in "Red Swan."
I'm from the generation that enjoyed the film The Guard (1992), so I was interested in this kind of subject matter for the first time in a long time. With each episode, various stories unfold, and it was really fascinating.
Rain: I'm Jun Ji-Hoo, who played the role of Seo Do-yoon. I was originally a fan of director Park Hong-ki.
We had a meeting, but the timing didn't work out and we couldn't be together. Kim Ha Neul is a muse for us. Seo Yi Sook is a great senior.
I wanted to work with them once. I also thought that I would work with Jung Gyu Woon and Ki Eun Se someday. When I read the script, I thought that they would be bodyguards.
There were few lines in the film. Instead, I thought it was necessary to give each line a sense of weight, so I trained with a voice teacher to determine the tone of my voice.
I practiced hard so that I could differentiate myself from the others even though I had few mistakes. (When asked by the host to show the results of his practice, he said in a good voice) "Stay tuned, Red Swan, on July 3rd."
Seo YiSook: I'm Seo YiSook, who played the role of Park Mi-ran. I also wanted to work with the other cast members. After working with them, I can really understand why they are so popular.
I was able to do it. I was always happy on the set because I was calmly working on each role. I thought it would be a work with a lot of detail.
Jung GyuWoon: Sorry, I was so nervous that I completely forgot my character's name. I'm Jung GyuWoon, who played the role of Kim YONG GUK.
I am overwhelmed with emotion just being here. I had been away for a long time and was hungry for a role, but I was attracted to this work and wanted to play a role, so I asked the director, "What kind of roles will you play in this role?
I will try to differentiate myself and do my best. I am really grateful that the director nominated me. Ki Eun-se: I am Ki Eun-se, who played the role of Jang Tae-ra.
This time, it wasn't me who decided to participate in this production, but the people around me, and I'm honored to be able to act with the director and everyone here. I'm overwhelmed with emotion just sitting here.
Q. This work encompasses a wide range of genres, including mystery, romance, and action, but what is the most interesting aspect of it?
Kim Ha Neul: For me, it's action. I was curious about how they filmed without using stunts, so I
Even if I didn't have a role in the film, I would go and watch the action scenes being filmed. It was exciting to see a scene where someone puts their own life on the line to protect me when I'm in danger.
Rain: He was there when I was shooting an action scene and he was dozing off (laughs).
Even in the fighting scenes inside, I think I was just lying down and watching (laughs). I feel bad about using stunt doubles for the action scenes, and I feel it's easier to do them myself.
If there are any parts that are missing, I can improvise. When I saw the finished video, it was really cool, and I thought the director's directing skills were impressive.
Q. The main character, Oh Wan Soo, is an elegant and charismatic character. How did you prepare for the role?
Kim Ha Neul: I was also a goodwill ambassador for the Now Foundation, so I monitored my appearance as a goodwill ambassador and was able to stand out in public with confidence.
I looked at him as a reference for his appearance. I also studied what kind of costume he would wear in what situations. It was also difficult to imagine him as a former world-class golfer.
It's not easy to express world-class poses, so I practiced a lot. Q. What did you think of Rain and Kim Ha Neul's elegant and charismatic roles?
Rain: I thought it was really professional. Kim Ha Neul and Seo Yi Sook were in perfect chemistry, which was one of the highlights.
Q. Jung Gyu Woon, you must have been watching Kim Ha Neul and Seo Yi Sook's scenes from up close. What was your impression of their charisma?
Did you feel sexual attraction? Jung Gyu Woon: Yes, I did. I loved my wife (Oh Young Soo) and tried to get close to her, but she was pulling away from me, so I felt a little lonely. Mother
The father (Park Mi-ran) hates his wife (Oh Young-Soo), and I often consulted Kim Ha-Neul about how to portray this relationship, but she was by my side and helped me out in many ways.
Q. Rain is known for his action scenes, but this time he did something a little different. What did you think of that?
Rain: This time, unlike the action scenes I've done up until now, I wanted to show off the lines of my body in action scenes, so I had a lot of discussions with the action director.
Instead, I think scenes shot in long takes were used. Since there were fewer lines this time, I felt I had to convey emotion through the gaze.
Q. So, this time the acting is about 'eye acting'. Rain: My eyes aren't that big, so I had to do some eye exercises before filming to prevent them from swelling.
I worked out to get rid of the swelling before acting (laughs). Q. What kind of direction did the director use to make the action scenes stand out?
Director Park Hong-ki: Before we talk about directing, I want to emphasize that Jun Ji-hoon is an action actor.
I was surprised to see that he is a wonderful actor who can express emotions so delicately. I hope you will pay attention to that in this production.
Usually, it is difficult to shoot the scenes by alternating between stunts and other actors, but Jun JiHoo is very knowledgeable about action scenes and gave us lots of advice, so it was very easy to shoot.
The finished product is also amazing, so please look forward to it. Q. Jung Gyu Woon, did you do anything to prepare for this role, which is different from your previous roles?
Jung GyuWoon: When the director told me about the casting, I thought, "I've played a lot of stereotypical roles up until now, but this time I want to try something different.
"I want to portray him as a man of great influence," I told the director. I tried growing my hair long and tying it up, imagining the image of a Spanish or Italian business magnate. I think these attempts produced some results.
Q. Seo YiSook, this is a different image from the chairman you played in the past. Did you do anything to prepare for the role? Seo YiSook: Oh Wan-soo had a hard time becoming successful, but my role was born
The character is a wealthy man. He was born into a wealthy family, so it's not that he was poorly educated or stupid, but rather that he is lacking in something.
I wanted to express the anger and weakness that arise from class differences. Q. Ki Eun-se is the most provocative character among the cast members.
Ki Eun Se: In the teaser video, there were a lot of provocative scenes, but I acted with the feeling that I was more than just a bad girl.
Q. Every time stills photos for this TV series were released, they became a hot topic. Could you tell us about each scene?
Kim Ha Neul: (A photo of Seo Do Yoon holding Oh Young Soo) When there are scenes where I have to hold someone in my arms, I feel guilty because I might be too heavy.
It was really powerful and I felt relieved. I was not sure where to look, but I was actually looking a little bit down (lol)
Rain: (A photo of a shirtless Seo Do-yoon with Oh Young-soo standing behind him) This is Kim Ha-nu.
This is the scene where Kim Ha Neul is scrubbing my body. Just kidding (laughs). This is the scene where Kim Ha Neul is treating my injury. Q.
Next is a photo from the set of the Fine Group, a conglomerate that represents the lifestyle of the top 1% of the Korean upper class.
Director Park Hong-ki-yoon: I focused on the art and the space. I wanted to differentiate this from the other TV series that feature conglomerates, so I focused on creating depth.
, and chandeliers are also used extensively. Q. Finally, a photo of all the performers. What did you think of the ensemble?
Seo YiSook: Both Kim Ha Neul and Rain have aged well.
The acting was amazing and the concentration was amazing. I was happy just watching the young cast members' performances. Q. From here on, we will take questions from the reporters. Kim Ha Neul
This is your first time appearing in a stream TV series. How was it for you and Jun JiHoo? Also, please tell us about your expectations for the show's success.
Kim Ha Neul: It was my first time doing a TV series on a streaming service, but I don't think there was any difference in the filming process.
I was a viewer who enjoyed the "y+" series, so I'm excited to be able to see my own work here. People all over the world will be able to see it, and watching the teaser video will give me more confidence.
I think that once you start watching it, you won't be able to stop, and I think it's easy for people overseas to watch. Rain: It felt like a regular filming location, rather than a brand new shoot.
It was really fun working with him. Sometimes the work I was hoping for didn't live up to my expectations, and sometimes the work I thought I would enjoy turned out to be very well received.
With that in mind, all we can do is try our best. Q. This is a series that is packed with a variety of genres, including romance, mystery, thriller, and action.
Kim Ha Neul: I thought the Fine Group would be the center of the story. There were a lot of incidents happening, and the threat of death was looming.
But he also wields enormous power, and I felt that I had to maintain that center of gravity. I worked hard, with the sole focus of not losing sight of the "elegant charisma" that I mentioned earlier.
Rain: For me, it was a typical romance TV series, so I worked on it from start to finish. Kim Ha Neul and I had a scene together.
They listened carefully to my opinions and made communication go smoothly, which I'm grateful for.
Jung GyuWoon: I was in a sad love.
It was fun because it was a role with depth and it looked like a real role. Although it wasn't in the teaser, there was also a younger brother role, and there were complicated human relationships, and I struggled for Once.
I also did. There are many different forms of love. Seo Yi Sook: There was a conglomerate succession issue, and this may be a spoiler, but when I read the script, I wondered if I committed the murder, and the next episode.
I was also curious about the role. Jun Ji Hoon had few lines, but she was always on screen and it seemed like it was hard work. But I was impressed that she really enjoyed her work. Kim Ha Neul
Ki Eun-se: In the complex story, I think my role was like a little break, a little rest.
You might get annoyed, but I think you'll be able to take a breather when I appear. Q. Director Park Hong-ki, did you have a chance to work with Jun Ji-Hoo in the past?
I heard that the timing didn't work out for the two actors, but now that you've worked together with Rain, what aspects of his acting were as you expected and what aspects were different?
Director Park Hong-ki Yun: I've already verified my acting with Jun Ji-Hoo in previous works. I wasn't particularly worried. This time, Jun Ji-Hoo was the last character I chose.
The role of a bodyguard is a heavy one, so I was a little worried about the lines and story development, but with Jun Ji-Hoo joining the cast, I was able to do more with the action scenes.
Q. Earlier, Jun Ji-Hoo said, "I want this to be the biggest hit of the year."
Kim Ha Neul: I have confidence in every work I take part in. This time in particular, the chemistry between the actors and the director was amazing.
I think that I was able to do that. I can't forget the scene. I was always nervous while filming, wondering what kind of scene it would be and how we would coordinate our acting.
Regardless of what happens next, I want viewers to see that this is a TV series that I was excited about filming.
Rain: Every time we went to filming, I felt nervous acting with such a great cast, it was like watching a movie.
I was also able to gain credibility. I think my role was useful when the story needed a punch. I was drawn in just by watching EP1 and EP2 without being told to "watch it."
Seo YiSook: This work is not high quality, but it's not low quality either. I think it has the ability to stay somewhere in between.
I think it's a good work. Q. Finally, please tell us the charm of the work in six words, in keeping with the title of the TV series. Seo YiSook: It has the power of the middle.
Rain: Please check it out. Kim Ha Neul: The Fine family is strong. Jung Gyu Woon: Thank you, Fine family.
KI EUN-SE: Spicy, salty and sweet. Director PARK HONG-KI-YUN: Check it out every Wednesday.
