On the night of the 6th, Suga was found by police in a drunken state near his home in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, while riding an electric scooter.
At the time, Suga's blood alcohol content was 0.227%, well above the limit for license revocation (0.08%).
Afterwards, SUGA posted on the global fan platform Weverse,
"I violated the road traffic laws by being careless and not realizing that electric scooters cannot be used while drunk," he said, adding, "I feel deeply sorry for disappointing everyone."
However, it was revealed that the kickboard SUGA used was an electric scooter, and the matter became an issue. In response, Big Hit Music, the management office of BTS, said,
"During the process of additional confirmation, we realized that classifications differ depending on the product's performance and specifications, and that the scope of responsibility for accidents also changes," the company explained, saying it had no intention of downsizing the case.
Police said they plan to summon and investigate Suga, who is accused of drunk driving.
They said they were coordinating the schedule with Suga, who is currently serving as a military serviceman, and that "it will not take place on weekends or at night." There were various speculations as to whether Suga would be in the photo line.
However, the police stated that they would "apply the same standards as other existing suspects" and emphasized that "they will not purposely create photo lines."
Suga turned himself in to the police about two weeks after the incident was reported.
