Hong Kong sees 4.5 million tourists in August - Chinese report

The Hong Kong Tourism Strategy Board recently announced that the number of tourists in August this year reached nearly 4.5 million. According to the Hong Kong Government's Culture, Sports and Tourism Board, provisional figures show that 100,000 people visited Hong Kong in August.
The number of tourists visiting the country is expected to approach 4.5 million, an increase of more than 9% from the same period last year. This is the highest monthly figure since COVID-19 virus restrictions were fully lifted in February last year.
The number of tourists from January to August this year exceeded 29.5 million, a 45% increase from the previous year. Of these, tourists from mainland China increased by 39% to about 23 million, while tourists from overseas, Macau and Taiwan increased by 26.7% to about 27.7 million.
The number of tourists from Japan increased by 63% to a total of approximately 6.5 million.
