A fire broke out in a 6.5-ton cargo truck traveling on the highway in Kimcheon, North Korea. The truck was completely burned down, and over 500 packs of cigarettes were burned.
The fire department estimated that the damage to property was worth 1 billion won (US$100 million). However, the driver (a man in his 60s) managed to escape on his own, so no casualties were reported.
Firefighting authorities deployed 14 equipment and over 30 personnel and put out the fire at around 12:41 p.m., about two hours later.
Fire officials believe the fire started in the passenger side tire and are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
