I have had so many moments like that.”
Cho Hoon-hyun, 9th dan, in the movie "Seungbu: Two Go Players"
These are the words of Lee Byung Hun, an actor who portrayed a life of Go. Lee Byung Hun, who captivated the world with season 2 of Netflix's "Squid Game," is returning to the screen for the first time in two years since "Concrete Utopia."
Lee Byung Hun will be taking on the role of Jo Hun Hyun in the movie "Seung Bu: Two Go Players," which will be released in theaters this spring.
When asked how he felt about playing a real person, he said, "In the TV series 'All In,' I played a character based on the real person, poker player Cha Min-soo.
"Yeo Hoon-hyun has known the man since childhood and was his best friend," he said, "The friendship between these two men, who are known as legends in their own fields, and the fact that they acted out their lives with so many years between them was fascinating."
"Seungbu: Two Go Players," which will be released on the 26th, is about Go legend Cho Hun-hyun (played by Lee Byung Hun) who loses a match against his disciple and then returns to the game with his natural competitive spirit.
The film depicts the battle between the still-active "Go Emperor," Cho Hun-hyun (9th dan), and his protégé Lee Chang-ho (9th dan).
Lee Byung Hun knew nothing about Go before he came across "Seungbu: Two Go Players."
He was fascinated by Heung-hyun's life story and decided to take on the role. He said, "As an actor, it was a big challenge for me to express the feelings of a man before a match with his disciple, and the confusion he felt when he experienced defeat for the first time through his disciple.
Lee Byung Hun, who is known as the "god of acting," said, "There are many moments when I feel defeated and embarrassed while acting, which is something that Cho must have experienced."
He continued, "When I work on a single project, I go through two or three difficult times. No matter how long I've been doing it, acting is always difficult. The depth and type of worries are different from when I was younger, but the amount of worries is still great.
"Seungbu: Two Go Players" was originally scheduled to be released on Netflix. However, due to Yu A In's (Lee Chang-ho) drug use scandal, he was unable to appear in public for four years, and
Lee Byung Hun said, "It was disappointing that we had to wait so long without knowing what the movie would be like," but added, "However, this film
I was even more worried about the director, who dedicated several years of his life to this film." He continued, "There were many twists and turns, but I'm glad that I can finally show the results of my work, which I put my heart and soul into, on the big screen.
I'm happy," he added.
