Lee Arum and her boyfriend, Man A, are suspected of borrowing about 37 million won (approximately 3.7 million yen) from fans and acquaintances and not paying it back.
According to the legal profession on the 16th, Judge Lee Nuri of the Ansan branch of the Suwon District Court sentenced A, who was indicted on charges of fraud, to one year and six months in prison, and Lee ARUM to one year and six months in prison.
He gave a six-month sentence, suspended for two years. Judge Lee explained his reasons for the sentence, saying, "I decided on the sentence after taking into consideration the circumstances of the crime, the amount of damage, and whether or not there was any agreement."
Lee ARUM and A are suspected of borrowing about 37 million won from three acquaintances, including fans, and then not paying it back.
The victims claimed that Lee ARUM had borrowed money from them for personal reasons with her boyfriend and has not paid it back to this day, and filed complaints with the police between March and May of last year.
Lee ARUM joined the girl group T-ARA in 2012, but left the group the following year in 2013.
The prosecution and A were dissatisfied with the first-instance verdict and each appealed on the grounds that the sentence was inappropriate.
The Ansan branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office arrested and indicted A on suspicion of fraud in December last year, and indicted Lee ARUM without detention.
