The accuser, who introduced himself as “a sovereign who establishes public order and realizes social justice,” used the National Petition System (an administrative service that accepts opinions online) on the 19th to file a complaint with the Seoul Police Agency regarding the sex trafficking allegations against Ju Haknyeon, which was confirmed on the same day.
The accuser stated, “This is a serious social crime that should not be downplayed as merely the misconduct of an individual celebrity. The situation involving an idol with immense public influence engaging in sex trafficking abroad and the involvement of internal agency personnel reflects structural issues within the entertainment industry.”
They also emphasized, “The complainant filed the complaint with a strong sense of urgency, hoping that this case will be thoroughly investigated through public prosecution and lead to institutional improvements in the future,” and stressed, “Although the crime occurred in Tokyo, Japan, it is a crime that can be punished domestically under the principle of personal jurisdiction.”
According to the complaint, the following four points are being raised:
▲Request for the initiation of formal investigations into Ju Haknyeon
▲Request for clarification of the truth and investigations into the former producer of the agency
▲Request for investigations into the applicability of corporate liability (dual punishment provisions)
▲Expansion of the scope of additional investigations into a third party and investigations and penalties regarding the current controversy
The complainant stated, “The law stipulates that if an employee of a corporation (One Hundred) commits a violation related to their duties, the corporation may also be subject to a fine,” and added, “It is necessary to investigate whether Ju Haknyeon's sex trafficking was a simple private deviation or whether it was carried out under the tacit approval, assistance, or encouragement of the affiliated company, as well as the possibility of management awareness and the presence of management responsibility.”
Additionally, they argued, “This case should not be narrowed down to the crime of an individual but expanded to investigate structural issues of sexual exploitation and tacit approval within the entertainment industry. The fact that an idol, who should be conveying dreams and hope to teenagers, was involved in such a crime is a serious issue that violates their social responsibility.”
Ju Haknyeon was reported to have had a private encounter with former AV actress Asuka Kirara at a private pub in Tokyo in late May, leading to his withdrawal from the group. Additionally, allegations have emerged that he engaged in sex trafficking with her.
His agency, One Hundred, issued a statement on the 18th stating, “We can no longer trust Ju Haknyeon,” and announced, “After thorough discussions with the members, we have made the final decision to have Ju Haknyeon withdraw from the group and terminate his exclusive contract.”
Ju Haknyeon also issued a statement on the 19th, acknowledging, “It is true that I was present at a drinking session with an acquaintance early in the morning,” but denied, “I have not engaged in any sexual transactions or illegal activities as reported in the articles or rumors.”
